Working Principle and Steps of Filter Press

Filter press generally by the "pressure plate, thrust plate, filter plate, hydraulic cylinder, main beam, transmission and pulling device" and other components. The hydraulic cylinder piston pushes the head plate to make the filter plate press the adjacent filter plate to form a filter chamber; The mud is fed into the filter chamber by the feed pump, the water permeable filter cloth is discharged through the discharge port, and the solid mud forms a filter cake in the filtering chamber. When the mud is full of the filter chamber, the high-pressure pump is used to press the mud to filter, so that the solid and liquid are separated in the filter room.

1. Pressure filter plateOperate the hydraulic system to move the tail plate towards the head plate, pressing all the strainer between the head and tail plate. Thus, a hollow sealed filter chamber is formed between the adjacent filter plates.

2. Pressure filtration processThe feed pump delivers the mud from the feed hole of the tail plate to the filter chamber, when the filter room is full of mud, the pressure filtration process begins, the mud is separated by the pressure of the feed pumps.

At the beginning of filter press, the mud in the filter room cake thickness is not big, cake resistance is small, dehydration speed is fast, usually at this time with "low head, high flow pump." With the increase of cake thickness, resistance increases, pressure filtration rate decreases, then apply "high lift small flow pump."

The time required for the filtration process is determined according to the filtration characteristic of the mud and the technological requirements. When the specified filtration time is reached, the feeding is stopped and the process is completed.

3. Release filter plateOperate the hydraulic system and return the head plate to its original position.

4. Filter plate dischargeThe transmission chain on the transmission and pulling device successively pulls the filter plate apart, the filter cake falls off by the weight and is transported away by the conveyor at the lower part.
